I better be getting the shlopiest of toppy for a $30 sandwich lmao
Katz has suffered the fate of many old time restaurants in large places. They've been around so long that they've become an institution, and that has let them get away with jacking up the prices to fleece tourists. I'd be willing to bet within two blocks of Katz's Delicatessen, there are at least three other sandwich shops whose food is just as good for about half the price.
$30 ??! Fk no. That bread is 50 cents 😂😂
Lifetime NYer. My Dad used to take me to Katz, when we shopped down on Delancey St back in the day. I used to pop in pre-pandemic after 8pm, when it slowed down. It was around $20 then. I make good money, but $30 for a sandwich is crazy work.
It’s not 29.50. You forgot tax and tip. It’s 38.00.
30.00 for a sandwitch.... will only keep going up when people keep paying these prices.
Not for 30$ Like what the actual F . It’s just a sandwich.
29.50 for a sandwich? Daylight robbery
The amount of love and effort that went into the $17 sandwich puts the $30 one to shame, if its stupid price didn’t already
It might be an expensive sandwich, but their brisket is literally out of this world. I live in Texas, and have brisket at BBQ joints pretty often, and I still crave Katz's pastrami sandwiches
Dude confused the corned beef with the pastrami sandwiches 💀
OXTAIL MAC PATTY?!?!?!?! Omg I never knew I needed that right now.
if I waited in that line to find out that sandwich was $30 I’d be sick 😂
Me and my girlfriend went last week and tried Kat’z. When we get im we found out it was $30 a sandwich… yeah we only got one sandwich to share. No sandwich in the world is worth $30
Datz deli sandwich looks awesome, here's hoping someone copies it in London soon!
“Look at how much meat is on there” imagine tryna justify a 30$ sandwich lol
When you enrer Katz, they give you a ticket and you better not lose it. If you lose it they charge you. It's ridiculous.
I grew up down the street from Katz in the 70s and 80s. My dad used to take me to eat there sometimes. I can remember when the sandwich was $5, and you gave the meat cutter a tip in their cup, and you would get a sandwich big enough to make 2-3. I was in NYC last September and I went to get my usual Pastrami sandwich and it didn't taste like it used to.
Not to mention, they have tip jars at 3 different spots in the restaurant. There's one in front of the meat carving guy, so u feel inclined to tip or possibly get a crappy sandwich. I watched a guy get it in a short once he paid 30$ for the sandwich, another 20 at the meat station, another 20 on the way out the door oh and 10 to park so he damn near payed a 100 for lunch literally insane.
