@gatowololo5629

Excited to see the soil studies! I think pollution concerns stops a lot of people from doing things like this.

@chrstfer2452

Nice looking grub, and not destroying a lawn by being in there, good for him

@WhatUpGANACHE

It absolutely contains oils, rubbers, metals, etc. Used to do consulting and a ton of soil surveys. Working for the DOT on a hughway expansion project, we surveyed all their retention/drainage "ponds". They all showed elevated levels of metals, oil and grease, and VOCs.

@TrashMaster5000

I have no clue why, but this guy's voice...is so calming and confident, comforting yet assertive. Like, "That's just the way it is, and it's okay"

@chubeye1187

It all depends on the road, multi lane high traffic the gullies are black and lifeless sludge. I often dig out gullies with mostly leaf mold, you can tell with the fat worms. I filled up a couple of bags Friday that went into one of my photo pots. I work in drainage

@King_WhiteWolf

Just wanted to say I genuinely appreciate that you took the time to release that beetle grub looking thing into a safe spot, and with some extra compost to boot. That little act of kindness alone earned my thumbs up.

Im sure I've earned a few accusations of the "tree huggin pacifist" variety once or twice in my life because of it, but I've always felt even since I was a little squirt myself that all these critters n crawlers are just out here trying to survive, same as and no different than us, and so I've always indulged the compulsion to relocate them somewhere safe, if and when Ive needed to disturb them.

@jera8258

There is diesel, oil, hydraulic fluid, treated road salt, possibly magnesium and more that run down the street especially during winter months.

@Green.Country.Agroforestry

Nice engineering! I built my yard so that it does not allow water to escape to the street .. its awesome watching the rain, as the water absorbs into my in ground catchment system while the street floods. We bank enough water to get the forest through the Summer drought .. and build 1-2 inches of soil depth every year. The only area where we are losing H2O is the driveway .. I'm going to have a gander at that video 😁

@chonky2129

i really appreciate that you show the maintenance of the projects that you do. great content

@tommothedog

Looking forward to the soil studies. Great video

@JulianHedonist

Your engineering is very impressive, can't wait to see the soil studies!

@IncogNito-xx7to

I saw your whole video about the work done to collect the street rain water into your yard a long rime ago. It WAS GREAT! This is a really great update too! Thank you!

@passivehouseaustralia4406

As a scientist majoring in Chemistry I can tell you all that those soils will be full of hydrocarbons, micro rubber, and all sorts of stuff you dont want in your garden.

@johnb8956

I can’t speak for your area, but the UK Environment Agency study on street sweepings may be of interest. It was questioned whether the hundreds of tonnes worth of leaves many local authorities collect each year off the roads could be used for compost rather than general waste disposal. However, when samples were taken, the levels of heavy metals, oils, VOCs etc. were considered to be of too high a level. This is of course on a general sense, roads with lower use and many other factors may mean that water/ ‘sludge’ collected could be considered safe for such a project. Of course, all these thresholds are guidance, and you may choose to accept higher levels of contaminants, or indeed lower.

Very interested to see the samples either way!

@lunchboxproductions1183

This system is brilliant!! Might be worthwhile to create a lift out filter basket so you're not having to reach down and scoop everything out.

@1000Sonny

Damn. He got me with the picture’s worth a thousand words bit. Gave him a thumbs up instantly.

@jeremyscott6641

Well as someone who cleans out the sand traps in wash bays I promise all that nice undercoating we put on our vehicles doesn’t stay there, wouldn’t be using ditch water for anything.

@drizzydew

A man who’s gonna study soil from a roadway? Im here for the long run! You’re awesome 👍❤️

@petersdavos

I dunno.. judging toxicity by looking at an insect that would probably survive a direct nuclear hit might not be the best scientific deduction.🤣

@dark_luls

Well worth the study. Thanks for sharing your findings!
