I am from Iraq and this recipe is very popular here and I made it yesterday for breakfast but  we make it in a slightly different way first we dice the potato then we sprinkle some salt on top of the potato and fry it in the frying pan and after that we crack two eggs on the potato and also we add some celery and a  small pinch of salt on top of the potato and eggs and we  cook them until the eggs firm then we eat it with bread and tea and itś super delicious I recommend you to cook it in this way , I am pretty sure you will love it

This is such a nice dish in itself, but also easy to "modify" with adding onions, bacon, ham, mushrooms or whatever. I used to do this kind of stuff way back in the days, but had forgotten about it. Thank you for the reminder!

As an Asian, I'll add chilli or black pepper for spicy taste. And onions and garlic. Too bland for me.

used to eat this as a child, only difference is the potato was grated and we put jam on them, yum!

I make hash browns with boiled potatoes  I shred after peeling. I have one in the refrigerator now, so I'll peel it in the morning, shred it, add minced onion, salt and pepper and mix with egg as you have done. I like eating my eggs with homemade spicy salsa, so that's how I'll do it. Thanks for the video  giving me another option for breakfast. It looks delicious.

I tried it and trust me 
You need to boil or atleast fry the potato for 5 mins before adding the egg. Coz without it cooking beforehand the potato feels a little bit raw and hard to taste.

So next time I tried boiling the potato for exactly 5 mins and then followed these steps and also added a little bit of black pepper red chilly powder and turmeric for some flavour. Which turned out to be great. A must try quick and easy recipe

Yes, the simplest and most standard way - only I think the timings noted here are wrong. Both flour and potato need way more than overall 5 minutes to cook (I mean for the chemical changes necessary to become edible). I'd say 6-7 minutes on each side, with very low heat would be better. Also using just a tiny bit of butter instead of the oil would greatly improve this recipe for taste and fragrance. Also I think the "crunchiness" of the seared edges will be better. 

The important point here - what makes the recipe "quick and perfect for breakfast" is the thin slicing of the potato. This both speeds up its cooking, helps integrate the other ingredients, bind it all together, and also provides the nice colorful seared edges. There are very simple and cheap manual mechanic slicers (plastic with some rotating round blades) that would speed up the slicing into few seconds, making the recipe even faster - even if I count the need to wash the tool afterwards. Only if you use those very simple tools - not a full-blown food-processor.
