Hot take: I have a Switch 2 and really enjoy it.
I have the Switch 2 and I'm having way more fun with gaming than I've had in a while. I rediscovered the joy of open world exploration by playing BotW for the first time, and playing Mario Odyssey and Link's Awakening is making me feel like a kid again. These games actually make me smile and giggle, and that's what I was hoping that getting back into the Nintendo world with the Switch 2 would do. And it delivered. Games should be fun and full of childlike wonder. For me anyway. Plenty of reasons to appreciate video games, and it's stupid to only focus on the negative when there's so much joy to be had from it!
The only problem I have with the switch 2 are the keycards. I hate they are forcing you to just go digital.
I spent 20 hours playing Cyberpunk on handheld thinking the screen or the port itself was still not that great. However I found the graphics settings and turned motion blur off and that made a huge difference. Also HDR is off as default. Haven't checked to see what it looks like on the TV. But it's a next gen Nintendo. And I have loved every second.
Wow. I remember going to the grocery store to rent games. Wasn't a big corporate store either. Just a counry-ish style grocery/gas station. Man, the memories!!
The Switch 2 only has 1 real exclusive so when that game has gotten bad press for poor decisions it’s gonna negatively effect people’s view on the entire console Edit: a lot of people are taking their anger out on me for some reason even though I’m just pointing out a potential reason for switch 2 hate whether it’s wrong or right
Honestly, any negative attention that Nintendo or the Switch 2 has garnered should not affect anyone's enjoyment that they have with their system. Nintendo has made several missteps with the Switch 2 and have earned every valid criticism thrown their way. Nintendo has dealt with criticism before, they can handle it now to. What I don't get is the somber tone of this video. It feels like a eulogy, c'mon people! It's really not all that serious.
Remember when everyone said the screen was great? Then they saw a video telling them it was bad and now it’s bad?
I dont think anyone would have anything negative to say if the console was $350 and games cost $70. I think the whole mario being $80 left most people (especially those who havent or dont plan on getting one) space to criticize every little thing about the console to justify their displeasure. For me i loved my switch and the switch 2 is just a better version of that. It will only get better with time.
The hate isn’t new 😂
It’s not about those details. People are just tired of nintendos greed
As someone who actually plays the Switch 2 daily - its a fun device. Its not meant to be the latest and greatest of anything. Just a fun mario machine that can play other stuff too
Truth is i'm not seeing the home console experiences that got me excited in the 90's like Excitebike, 1080, Waverace, Goldeneye, and we don't have a dedicated handheld that plays handheld specific games. Look at the Nintendo Summer Sizzle from 2005 with Fall Out Boy. Not only was there incredible hype, but there was GameCube, DS, and Game Boy Advance! Things are not the same. I love new games, but not everybody wants to spend $80 on an open world experience.
The gaming community has become extremely negative in general... In THAT regard, I really miss the good old 90s, when people just bought games and enjoyed them, instead of farming hate.
It’s weird to see now this idea that “if I don’t think this is good, nobody should enjoy it either” mentality with this stuff. My bf and I have been playing every weekend since launch and have been enjoying every bit. Do we wish there were a few more Mario kart skins? Sure, but it’s been a solid time of pure fun.
It's a great system, the problem is we live in a society of instant gratification where everyone wants everything they want RIGHT NOW. It's best to ignore these types of people. They don't speak for everyone.
I think the initial hype has died down and now people are looking for flaws. That's all. (Personally I would never buy a console at launch as there is usually not enough physical games. Switch 2 is a prime example of this.)
Negativity bias. I think people are butthurt over the price and then try to justify that by finding every little flaw they can.
There's a lot of nitpicks but there's also some real points in there. The screen sucking and the Mario Kart change is a massive deal when that's the only exclusive game right now.
