Fowards compatability

@littlebigc07

That’s interesting, I thought it would’ve been a 3DS and DS situation where it just wouldn’t work

@jemstone144

It's like those Gameboy color games from back in the day, they have color if you had the Gameboy color but could be played on the og since the cartridge is shaped like an og Gameboy cartridge

@AxoBruv013

Man it was so wild it gave us tears

@TronicDday

I was hoping it would just blow up on contact 😭

@lozangekitten-gamer7626

It's because it's one of the game that uses the Switch 1 code as a base along with the Switch 2 upgrades. While the upgrade isn't readable by the Switch 1, the rest is perfectly readable, making it an interesting way of preparing a Switch 2 library if you don't have the console while still being able to play it on the originally intended hardware

@JacksonBobst

Man, that was so wild. I really needed to take a breath for that.

@momothemagecat

So basically, Switch 2 versions of Switch games will still run on the Switch, just without the additions that are in the Switch 2 versions.

@ActualBanEvader

WE GOT A WILD REFERENCE!!!

@davidfelix5439

Wow, that was wild, almost got me into tears...

@Aguard3_

I really hope they keep this compatibility, and dont let greed take it away

@hexagonal69

Well, I imagine the Switch 2 editions of Switch 1 games are really just the Switch 1 game bundled with the Switch 2 upgrade pack. So it’d be like having the game digitally and getting the upgrade pack. You can still load the game back on the Switch 1, the upgrade pack will simply just remain on the Switch 2.

@ROFUSDOFUSBIP

IVE NEVER BEEN ALERTED ABOUT THE GAMES REALLY OUT

@okuu_utsuho

Plot Twist: Nintendo found out you tried to put a Switch 2 game on a Switch 1 so they bricked your Switch 1 and sent a cease and desist 😂.

@dominicaccardo8050

that’s smart, now they don’t have to stock switch 1 and 2 versions of those upgrade pack titles

@TheVinig-dq1hw

It’d be really funny if someone makes an all you can eat buffet where you can only get game cards discs

@Dsol777

If you read the case, it says that card doesn't containt the upgrades itself. It contains the base game, but the upgrade is unlocked when inserting the card into the switch2. So really its a red switch 1 card with a key

@WallusProductions

Me seeing the most recent console I own be called the “switch 1”

@RealBF900

For those who don't know, if you put a Switch 2 cartridge in a Switch 1, it will give you an error message saying it is for Switch 2.

Edit: For those saying, in the replies and video, that when they loaded "Zelda: Switch 2 Edition," he didn't include the upgrade pack.

@Sam_T2000

this is dope.
I don’t have a Switch 2 yet, and probably won’t get one until the next Zelda comes out… but I’m interested in MP4, so it’s nice knowing I can buy the S2 edition, play it on my Switch 1, and still play it later on my future Switch 2 with all the upgrades it will hopefully have 👍
