The heel position, and the angle of your foot in the shoe is another indicator of how comfortable the heel will be. The more vertical your foot is in the shoe, the more painful the shoe will be.

This also counts for chunky heels people. Chunky heels are better, but if they are far back and the back of the shoe doesn't respect the form of your own heels and ankles, they will also kill your feet. Stop buying that crap. Let's force companies to make wearable shoes, just like we sort of forced them to put pockets back in our damn clothes.

Also some shoes magically keep your foot from sliding down and crunching your toes. It’s not the heel placement, it’s the slope of the interior. My highest heels are my most comfortable because of this.

It's interesting so many brands place the heel this way, I've always thought it looks weird and wouldn't buy just because of that. Good to know it also just feels bad too!

i didn’t realise how true this was until i started paying attention to it, and now i only buy centred heels. you can literally wear them for hours longer, the ache on the ball of your foot isn’t as bad, and also you don’t feel like you’re being pushed forwards onto your toes as much x
