@seandog

Dude Marty strung that guitar like ten times just for this video
respect

@alanharrison6173

you can only imagine how long this took him 🤯

@rice2meatu

I appreciate the simple chord strums rather than super complicated licks. Easier to actually understand what it will sound like

@dreasey

This man right here is one of the biggest influences on my guitar playing, I’ve been watching him for probably 15 years now.

@texasblueschannel

To my ear, 80/20’s ring out best. Phosphor Bronze are well balanced with “XS” most closely approaching the 80/20 clarity. Nickel are flat dead, Flat Top’s are muted and Silk and Steel are subdued and warm like a Woody Guthrie campfire singalong.

@josephmatlockjr7005

I think I like the 80/20 bronze XT the best, even though you'd expect the XT to make no difference on new strings.

@charlespatrick8650

the first/regular phosphor bronze ftw!!!

@susancorgi

It's not about what sounds best but what you like the most. I prefer the sound of silk

@kingston7583

Hey Marty, you should make another account that has guitar shorts or other musical shorts. Btw love your guitar tutorials.😁👍

@o_smith4106

I love the YouTube shorts Marty! Glad to see you’re in on them

@FionaMisty

All my acoustics have the regular phosphor bronze strings 🤩

@sevinstorey4365

I’m not sure what all of ya’ll were listening to. But to me it’s obviously clear that the nickel was way warmer and less twangy than the PB. Less ringing at a high pitch.
Maybe when I was playing those bars and ‘musicians’ would always dismiss me and tell me what I was doing wrong, well maybe I was the only one doing it right.

@seanlawrencee

Yay Marty posted took you forever 😂

@G93L-n1i

This my first week.and your videos helped alot

@thisolesignguy2733

That's really interesting, I never used the method to check the sound between them like that. I mainly picked the strings that were the most comfortable, for me it's always been phosphor bronze but that's just my personal preference. But every once in awhile I'll put nickel steel on my doboro just for a change. Thanks! this was very enlightening

@bradleybunk6463

80/20 are clearly best. This is a great comparison video, shot and to the point!

@LiamWard-xt3qo

Legend. This is what this kind of video should be let me hear side by side

@BrundonC

Nickel is my go to. Way less harsh. Compliments my Martins very nicely

@sevinstorey4365

This is the dude who had the fore sight to interview the great Ed King before his passing and get Ed to show all of us how to play “Sweet Home Alabama” the correct way. That is history my friend. Forever more there’s no excuse for people not to play it right, the Ed King right. Ed King was the only one of the original members who was not Southern but yet he was the most humble and generous and kind person. Usually that’s reserved for us Southern boys but Ed took it to a new level. A California hippie level cool. Thanks dude for making that possible for a Lynyrd Skynyrd nut like me who’s an average songwriter and strummer of acoustic music. God bless, Marty.

@Markito09

Love the sound of phosphor bronze! I'm using a lighter gauge on my guitar and I also changed it myself but it sounds great! Csnt imagine how many times you had to do that! Never want to again ahaha
