@policeperson7589

imagine teaching your dorm mate how to make games and 8 years later they're one of the most influential people in video game history

@kiyopawn

Props to his friend to snap Amaya-san to bravely say which parts weren't fun. It's legit that easy to spot a problem, don't lie to yourself if something "isn't fun", if something feels like a slog then that needs fixing in design.

@the_hiroman

Cave Story was literally a game made entirely of passion and love for gamers.
No corporate greed nor deadlines. And the result was truly a masterpiece.

@DMviewerguy

Sad that a lot of people dont really know about Cave Story anymore and its fallen into obscurity, very happy though I got to play it in my younger formative years on wiiware and it means all the more to me now with how much it paved the way for. It's really hard not to feel creatively inspired by Daisuke

@BigEvy

The fact that people still talk about this game makes me happy.

@studio-cultist9622

Cave story is truly a timeless game

@skullgamer64

I played Cave Story on my DSi when I was a in my early teens, The game changed my life when I experienced the lore and level designs.

@skaruts

The most impressive part to me is that one guy absolutely nailed it in every department. The art, the music, the sounds, the gameplay, the story, the cuteness, the fun... everything.

@annpc8266

Literally THE indie game. Best music to date in any indie title and the gameplay is amazing as well

@elseifgames129

Pixel's next game, Haru to Shura/Spring and Shura just came out. It's interesting to see how drastic a departure from cave story and kero blaster it is, at least based on the trailer alone.

@kirby9759

Fun fact: my dad played the "Beta" version of Cave Story and worked on the og Cave Story website (which doesn't exist anymore sadly)

God, hearing Cave Story's ost in this vid makes me feel nostalgic

@cosmicrdt

I'd be interested in seeing a FTL:Faster Than Light how it was made.

@eewennn

Happy 20th birthday, Cave Story.

@Youmu_Konpaku_

I haven't actually heard or known about this game before, but it's really heartwarming to know that he persisted in not giving up on his indie dev career. I'm learning programming myself in hopes that one day i could make a few games myself :b

Great video btw, may your channel grow

@faizaliqbal2284

Oh my goodness, now that's a name i've HAVEN'T heard in a long time. Amazing job as always Glen. Love you man

@hemangchauhan2864

Amazing presentation and great research.

One of the reason CS got a following outside Japan was thanks to English translation by Aeon Genesis (a popular fan translation group). It caught with then internet users on forums, which also lead to translations in other languages as well.

@burritomaster6000

man please let the algorithm pick up this video, we need more cave story love!!

@LuanHimmlisch

Please make the history of Castle Crashers or Alien Hominid, The Behemoth Is one of the most influential indie teams out there, they originate from Newgrounds and both games impacted the indie scene (and specially talking about Alien Hominid) even before Meat Boy and other modern indie hits

@louitdev5540

very cool vídeo ^u^ i love when a new vídeo is posted.

i cant imagine the hard work to write his own engine, level editor and music software.
