Everyone keep saying that WWX is dense, but no one noticed that WWX literally hates himself and doesn't believe he's worthy of love in the first place? :') Sure, older Lan Zhan is charming af around WWX, but WWX himself is one tragic ball of self loathing. He's not an idiot, he just needs an therapy. Sure, he have clues- peony, headband, Lan Zhan being totally like his father for his mother back then (LZ father for LZ mother), but he will be in denial till it will be spelled for him. Because the only love he knows comes from Jiang family, and Wen, and we all know how good that all went.

It’s like an indirect love confession from Lan Zhan. He kept WWX’s calligraphy book, on it he highlighted the area of the headband meaning/rule and placed the peony that WWX gave him when they met in Yunmeng. Only WWX couldn’t realize it as he was shocked when he found out that thing about the headband 😔😂

as a person who is as emotionally dense + in denial as WWX, I've had a close friend ask to keep my notes back in high school and thought it was because she "liked my nice handwriting". it took my dumb ass 2 years and a confession to finally realize she actually had a crush on me, not on my handwriting so...hey Wei Ying, I feel you bro 😭🙏

I wish the movie predicted exactly how Wei Ying acted when he found out about the head band from the “Gusu kids” and not from the book ( finding out from the book was cute too). Wei Ying was literally pacing up and down when he found out about the head band feeling so anxious and the kids actually thought he was excited 😂😂😂😂
