Man, this reminds me of a story I wrote years ago. The main characters were these two boys, one of them had ran away from home and the other simply didn't remeber who he was or where he came from. The runaway asked the amnesiac if he wanted to come with him and together they built a home and after a while got very close to each other. Then one day, the runaway saw dark clouds rising in the distance and left, telling his friend to stay behind and wait for him to return. After a long time of waiting for him, the amnesiac decided to finally follow him, but all he found there was a ruined city and a few strangers, one of whom told him to go to a different city, which had been ruined as well. He did as he was told, trying desperately to find his friend, but as he stepped toward the palace in the center of the city he remembered just who he was, and once again the stranger appeared and explained he planned to destroy their world with the help of a god that spoke to him. The amnesiac refused to help him and after the stranger left, decided to chase him down and put an end to whatever he was doing. It was in his friends hometown that he found an old broken down statue of the prince and more things began to add up. He finally managed to come face to face with the stranger again, but instead of trying to fight him he simply spread out his arms to greet his old friend, who finally began to remember him. The two were the princes of two neighboring kingdoms that eradicated each other in a war, leaving one of them to wander the wasteland without recollection of his past and the other without a home to return to after he had ran away at it's beginning. I know probably no one will read this, but just typing it out and remembering makes me happy, so who cares.

This song reminds me of someone I met a decade ago. I have not seen him since, I don't even know where he is right now or how life has been treating him. He doesn't even remember my name, I suppose. We had a brief time together, but he made me feel so happy. I miss the way he made me feel. Dear fellow traveller underneath the moon, I know you are out there in the shadows...
