Mariah's whole Daydream album concept is so clever. She was basically trapped in a toxic marriage/business environment and as you go through the album, it basically takes you through her daydream. She wakes up in "daydream interlude"/"looking in" at the end, but in Fantasy, she's at the beginning of her awakening. The instrumentals in all of the song are eerie too. She's a genius.
A lot of female artists was JEALOUS of her. When she had that break- down, folk thought she was through. She came back with a album that had so many hits on it, just shut people down. Gone girl
This timeless classic was PERFECTLY used in “Free Guy”. So happy to see the new generation discovering this masterpiece.
This was in "Rush Hour" (1998) - When Soo Young was singing in the car on the way to school in Los Angeles.
This song came out in fall 1995 and in December 1995 I had to be hospitalized at age 3 for a blood disorder. The girl next to me on the pediatric unit in the room next to me was a 16-year-old leukemia patient who would always play this song. I was only 3 so I didn’t know about music. I remember one day I was rushed to another room and after that day I never saw the girl again and the music stopped. I learned she had died and they needed to rush me out. This song reminds me of her
0:10 The way she harmonizing i just knew this song was a hit when i was child. All the feelings. 😌❤️🙂🥲
being a male it was hard to say i liked her music when i was growing up. now that I’m older i can say it proudly.
When I was a kid, this song was the most played song at the local roller skating rink. When I was around girls, I always acted like I hated it. In actuality, I was the one who snuck off by myself to request it to the DJ. Hehe.
The fact this isn't Mariah's biggest hit, just shows how successful this queen is, What a legend.
She wrote the ultimate Christmas song AND the ultimate summer song!
This isn’t a good song, this is a GREAT song.
Basically grew up in a household that played Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Madonna, Michael Jackson, Beatles (60s I know but my dad kept playing it during weekends when I was growing up), Aerosmith, Bryan Adams, Jon Bon Jovi, Elton John, Spice Girls, BSB, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Radiohead, Alanis Morisette, Celine Dion songs (among other 90s greats) on a daily basis. Ahhh, the memories Edit: added several more artists I could remember listening to
Free Guy is going to drill this song into a whole new generations head, just like it was years and years ago
Vinis' ere as usual and loving it!!!!!!!!😊😊😊😊😊😊
#1 for 8 weeks on Billboard Hot 100, in 1995 "Fantasy" is the introduction of R&B/Pop and Hip-hop feats in POP culture.
This is the sound of the 90s. It has that feel instantly. When her voice starts ripping off the first verse it is so iconic. So crystal clear and unique. One of the top hits of the decade.
this vocal performance is incredible, one of the all time female vocals of all time
So she was 25 here and wrote and produced this song and directed this video while she was also making a remix for this song with ODB, which changed the music industry forever, and was recording an Alt-rock album just to release stress. LEGEND!!!
I'm 50 now and this song still gets my legs moving. Mariah was and still is my favorite female artist vocals and whole package incredible
