The Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai is an elephant sanctuary where volunteers can stay a week or more at the sanctuary to help take care of the elephants and other rescue animals such as dogs, cats, buffaloes...etc. There is a fee that you have to pay but it includes your housing and meals. The owner of the sanctuary is Lek Chalert, and she's known all over Thailand as the elephant whisperer.

Glad to see everyone happy Elephants and Thai people We consider elephants to be meritorious to us. In ancient times, elephants were used in battle to defend our country. The king will ride on his war elephant and command battle.

What an incredible experience! Hearing the elephant's stories and then seeing how pampered they are now made us so happy! We especially loved the one that went underwater lol!

Damn what a memorable trip for your parents. You showed them a great time. Thailand is always a crazy experience for first timers - learning, tasting, seeing or experiencing something new every second as if you were reborn and discovering your surroundings for the first time again. It really awakens your soul.
