Belgae strategy during wars with Caesar:
Step 1: Declare Independence
Step 2: Amass Army
Step 3: Assemble Army On Battlefield
Step 4: Go home and re-supply
Step 5: Wait 1 year
Step 6: Go back to Step 1

@dshim4731

dude watching this is so much more emotionally invoking than almost all hollywood movie fight scenes.

@Blacksmith__

This is why no matter how great your commander is, he needs sub-commanders just as strong.

@leronbenari226

We have discovered the enemy's hidden units!
The men are wavering.
Our men flee the field of battle this is a shameful display!
Heroic victory!

@franzluggin398

Just read that it was Titus Labienus who secured the victory for Caesar on the right flank (the centurion who turned around and charged the back of the enemy army). Must have been a major blow for Caesar to see him go after Rubicon. After all, that was not the only time he had to thank Labienus for a victory that might have gone totally down the drain without him.

@ValensBellator

It's remarkable how competent Caesar's underlings seem to be... they routinely, on their own initiative, turn disaster into victory.

Caesar is clearly one of the most competent leaders in Rome's history, but it shows that even the best need help. What generally makes them "the best", though, is having an eye for competency and reliability, and making a friend and loyal servant of those people.

@IsThisRain

3:45

"Caesar arrived on the scene, jumped off his horse, picked up a shield, and ran into his infantry shouting encouragement..."

This is why I love Caesar.

@BoyangSun

honestly i rather watch this all day than the crap the put on history channel nowadays. Well made videos and well researched! Reminds me the days i used to play rome total war haha

@MrJethroha

Lol, what about the legion that fucked off into the woods? They probably thought the battle was a resounding victory until they got back to camp!

@SuperCompany007

Caesar was a fucking badass holy shit. His commanders too!

@CheeseWithMold

I can't tell you how much I love these videos. Just the simplicity of the animation and the beautiful explanations merge so well.

@_Leouch

And there is still small village with mysterious potion... poor cesar

@as7river

You know you've led a succesful life when people talk about you 2000 years after your death and say that yes, you were a tyrant, but a damn brilliant one.

@MarekDohojda

Compare that to Teutoburg forest... what a difference a good General makes.

@JaLiberal

Romans were just great. They knew that the deeds of an individual does means survival of the group.

 I mean one legion was sent back to battle after defeating left flank just in case something was going wrong. Civilians and slaves form baggage train join the fight to hold the line. Skirmishers and Cav that got destroyed in the beggining stayed and watched the battle to help when they were needed. That is a sign of a strong nation.

@victortisme

Axona brought me back for the best!
