Anyone who dies violently, commits suicide, must find a substitute.

The ghost, who is looking for a substitute, triggered the accident to happen to the potential substitute.

Next, the 15th question: I am asking this as your disciple. Recently on the road I saw suddenly in my mind a scene from a fatal car accident from the past. The dead spirit said that the same car accident will happen here soon, and the identity of the victim will be similar. May I ask what this means?

This is what Asian culture calls finding a substitute. It is real. Where you see a car accident, that is often where it happens. A person who dies in a car accident dies an unnatural sudden death. If he cannot find another person to replace him, he cannot leave that place and is unable to reincarnate.

Anyone who dies violently, commits suicide, or dies by hanging, must find a substitute. Those who die by self-poisoning need to find a substitute. Therefore, people should not suicide. It does not solve the problem. If you cannot solve your problem and must wait for a substitute without knowing how long this will take, how troublesome it is! Of course the people to be substituted also have negative karma to go through these accidents and be trapped.

The ghost, who is looking for a substitute, triggered the accident to happen to the potential substitute by distracting others so as to have an accident at the very place where they themselves had the accident. If the spirit is enlightened, he will refrain from doing this out of kindness of heart and it will be his chance to increase his good karma.

I have read this in ancient peoples’ notes and novels when I was very young, and had such an impression.

There was a water ghost who drowned in the water. This water ghost knows that who ever swims here on a given day will drown here. He was waiting there for a substitute.

Sure enough, someone came. The ghost saw that this man was a young man, having older parents at home, a wife, and his children were toddlers. The ghost could not bear it and rescued the young man. He lifted him up from below and rescued him.

Then anther ghost met him and asked “You had the opportunity to find a substitute to replace you, so why did you miss it?” He said he could not bear it.

After a few days, the immortal supernatural beings came to him. Because his heart was so good and kind he was asked to be one of the deities. I have forgotten what kind of deity or supernatural being he became.

He took to the heavenly path. Kind heart, could not hurt another, one thought of kindness;

so he became one of the deities who are upright and righteous. Asian people commonly call these deities“gods of righteousness and morality,” including mountain deities and earth deities.
