ADDITIONAL VIDEO NOTES
ANC COMPARISON
Airplane - Sony 58.5 vs Bose 59.4
High voices - Sony 43.9 vs Bose 41.4
Silent environment - very clean on both but cleaner on Sony
TRANSPARENCY
Decibel limiter? - Bose has ActiveSense
Sound? - Sony sounds natural but slightly muffled.
Bose sounds natural and almost the same volume. It is easy to forget you have headphones on
White noise? Sony is Clean with almost no white noise
Bose has the slightest white noise. Almost imperceivable but more than Sony
MIC TEST
Indoors
Outdoors
FIT & COMFORT
Bose feel lighter on my ears and get less hot
Bose feels like deeper ear cups
Earcups feel softer on Bose and less sticky in humidity
Deeper earcup also helps Bose stay on better
DESIGN
Both fold, finally
Bose has more loose rattly hinges
Sony comes in 3 colors, black white and midnight blue
Bose comes in 4 colors, black white lunar blue, and this sick deep plum
Case comparison
This is really just going to be a personal preference on design
CONTROLS
Sony = two buttons, double press, touch pad with 2 axis swipes, tap, hold, nod, and shake.
Also palm coverage will allow outside sounds in
Bose = I never know which button to use for Bose. one is playback controls & ANC, other toggles device and power/pairing
Awesome volume slider control with right thumb
Tap and hold audio slider for shortcut
It also takes a second for Bose to turn on, and sometimes you hit the button again and turn it off
SOUND
Snapdragon Sound on Bose but that is a bit confusing and does not work as ubiquitously
SBC/AAC/LC3/LDAC on Sony
Also 3.5mm cable with Sony, slightly smaller one with Bose
Bose has a wake sound that is intended to give a consistent sound profile for everyone's ears
Bose are a bit bassy but otherwise pretty nice everywhere else
Bose sounds like you are farther away
In my opinion, the Sony headphones sound way better than the previous generation
Perhaps a bit more of a U-shaped frequency response compared to Bose
Sony sounds articulate with lots of clarity and crisper highs
Right now, I prefer the Sonys, partially because they have high resolution codecs on more devices. If you’re an iPhone user, you can’t get high res codecs with any headphones.
BATTERY
Sony = 30 hrs with ANC but you can extent with ANC off
Bose = 30 hrs with ANC but you can’t turn ANC off
FEATURES
Neither has USB-C playback :(
Neither has NFC pairing, both have FastPair
Sony has a speak to chat feature, Bose does not
Sony has background music feature
Sony has DSEE extreme
Bose has modes
Both have auto play/pause
Both have some form of 360 audio
Both have multipoint… sort of. Bose requires you to manually switch on the headphones. Sony is true multipoint
APP TOUR
PRICE
$449 for Sony
$449 for Bo
