[Synopsis]
On July 17, 2018, Officer Bronson Kaliloa of the Hawaii Police Department was shot on a highway on the Big Island of Hawaii. He was a military veteran and a father of three children. While Officer Kaliloa was conducting traffic control with other police officers, he was suddenly shot in the neck and leg by a man who got out of his vehicle and died on the spot. Other police officers nearby immediately provided covering fire, but the suspect escaped. He fled to a grassy area next to the road. After this, the highway was closed for 15 hours and an investigation was conducted, but the culprit was not apprehended.
