Placemaking: The Power of 10+

The Power of 10+ is a simple approach to creating place. In very basic terms this approach is that a location needs 10 or more things to become a place that attracts people. A location needs 10 or more of these places to become a destination. A city or region requires 10 or more destinations for reputational change to occur. This provides a gauge for urban planners but, more importantly gives us a great tool for placemaking. When we bring people together to discuss their town or city in a placemaking project those who know and use the place are best placed to provide ideas, innovation and help to create great places and destinations. This is its real power.
